The Scroll K is a non-profit Kashrus agency recognized by rabbinical organizations worldwide.
Presently the Rav Hamachshir is Rabbi Yisroel Rosskamm, a Musmach of Yeshiva Beth Medrash Govoha of Lakewood, NJ. Rabbi Elchonon Joseph is the Kashrus Administrator. Rabbi Moshe Heisler serves as Rabbinic Consultant. Rabbi Hillel Erlanger, Rabbi Michoel Fleischmann, Rabbi Yaakov Zions and Rabbi Yehoshua Greenspan are the Kashrus Coordinators.
History
The Scroll K/ Vaad Hakashrus of Denver was founded in January 1978. The rabbinical staff from January 1978 – 1988 consisted of Rabbi Yisroel Meir Kagan, Rosh HaYeshiva [Dean of Yeshivas Toras Chaim of Denver], Rabbi Meir Schwab [Dean of Bais Yaakov of Denver], and Rabbi Moshe Kahn Z”L (O.B.M.). The Rabbinical Administrator was Rabbi Yaakov Hopfer and the Kashrus Administrator was Rabbi Moshe Heisler.
A Kosher Supervising Agency
The Scroll K is a non-profit agency recognized by rabbinical associations worldwide. In addition to our own certifications, the Scroll K is also the eyes and ears for over a dozen kosher certifying agencies, including OU, STAR K, KOF-K and CRC, and perform over 2,000 kosher inspections throughout the year in hundreds of production plants throughout Colorado, Utah, Wyoming, New Mexico, Idaho, Nebraska, Arizona, Kansas and beyond.
The Scroll K services food manufacturers, bakeries,candy manufacturers, dairies, snack foods companies, chemical companies, supermarket chains, restaurants, caterers, and independent grocers. In addition, the Scroll K provides lectures to businesses, universities, schools, and hospitals.
Scroll K is also contracted by the Colorado Department of Corrections to facilitate kosher options for those incarcerated. Inmates who require kosher food are on a kosher program that was developed by the food division staff at the DOC and the Scroll K. The Scroll K Rabbis inspect Colorado DOC correctional facilities with physical and virtual monitoring to ensure the success of the kosher program.
The Scroll K emblem is a registered trademark. The placement of the Scroll K symbol upon a product is a firm guarantee to consumers and manufacturers alike that its product is in full compliance with the highest kosher standards. Its symbol can be found on grocery store shelves and warehouses across the nation.
The Vaad Hakashrus provides free information to the consumer on the availability of kosher products in the Rocky Mountain area. It also koshers private homes at no charge.
The Vaad Hakashrus’ newsletter is “the Kashrus Komments”. Various kashrus issues are discussed and the statuses of kosher products are updated.
